Rabat – The President of The Royal Elcano Institute, one of Spain’s major think tanks, called for a solution to the Sahara conflict based on a large autonomy of the territory under Moroccan sovereignty.
Paris – France reiterated on Monday support to efforts of the UN Secretary General’s personal envoy for the Sahara, Christopher Ross, and affirmed that it holds regular contacts with him.
“We support efforts by Christopher Ross and we are maintaining dialog on a regular basis with him and with the major concerned partners”, said spokesman of the French foreign department in a press briefing.
“My conclusion that an independent Western Sahara is not an attainable goal is relevant today because it lies at the root of the current negotiation process...“
